Day 30: Barefoot (but not pregnant)

Seven years ago today, I gave birth to my first son, Jackson. I can't believe how much he's grown! These days, he loves playing football and doing math. And I love hiking and jogging "barefoot" wherever and whenever I can...

Day 29: Self Portrait

I joined a photography challenge to take one self-portrait per month. This is my January submission. :) (They never said it had to be all of me!)

Day 28: Where the land and sky meet

Another one from Aiken Canyon - from the overlook. Amazing views from up there!

Day 27: Lots of Lines

My mom and I hiked Aiken Canyon for the first time on Sunday. The weather was ridiculously nice...

I like the lines and the DOF in this one myself.

Day 26: COMPLETELY out of my element...

A former student of mine, Jennifer Green, asked me if I would take pictures at her wedding. I don't usually do people pictures, so this was definitely a challenge for me! I'm really happy with the soft texture of this one, and its vibrant colors. Jennifer looks pretty gorgeous too! :)

Day 24: The Birds

I like this one because it has great colors. AND I'm grateful for my 55-300. That means I didn't have to be anywhere near them when I took their picture. Birds kinda scare me.

Day 23: Winter Tree

I love the barrenness of trees in winter. Sometimes like my soul.

Day 22: Jupiter and the Moon

I'm really stoked to be learning more about night time photography. I love how you can see the mountain top on the left side still in the sunlight... So serene. Thanks for letting me share.

Day 21: Something Boring

Not boring, necessarily. But the security guards never look like they're having fun sitting around...

Day 20: Something I Haven't Edited

We had a nice walk at the zoo on Saturday - great day to be outside and up high!

I love working in a place that has such great opportunities for photos like this.

Day 15: The Third Floor Floor

Still playing with the light settings on my new camera. I love the colors in this one.

Day 14: Big Red Rocks

I loved being at Garden of the Gods as the sun set over the Peak. Gorgeous!

Day 8: Mini Austin Bluffs

Experimenting with the "miniature"setting on my Nikon. My house is cradled between those to bluffs in the center of the photo. Kinda fun.

Day 5: Red Rock Open Space

I love hiking in Red Rock Open Space with my dear friends Caleb and Nancy AND my momma! Great hike today, and great views!

Day 3: String Theory?

Last night, Matt and I were watching "How Small is the Universe" and trying to understand what they were saying about string theory. Wow. We really had no idea what was going on. But as I was looking for inspiration for today's picture, I gravitated toward... strings. Sort of.

Day 2: Lines

Power lines in Palmer Park. I'm always amazed at the juxtaposition between the nature of this park, and the city it sits in the middle of.

Day 1: Details

In the description for this blog, I said that all the photos were from my new Nikon, but I haven't actually gotten the software loaded yet, so this one is from my Canon Powershot Sx20. I took this one on a hike in Breckenridge, CO on the Peaks Trail. The stream under the snow found an opening here... loved the gurgling brook underfoot.
